Our Solution: HIPAA Compliance
Our solution is fully compliant with HIPAA regulations. In fact, our digital charting system provides a level of security that cannot be duplicated with paper. The following is a list of security features that ensures the privacy of each patient's chart.
Security Features:
- A username and password are required to start Windows. Once the computer is shut down in the evening, cleaning personnel and building maintenance workers will not be able to access the computer or charts.
- A separate username and password are required to start the chart tracking program itself. This provides a second level of chart security in case the computer is accidentally left on.
- The software creates a HIPAA Audit Trail that tracks the date and time each user accesses each chart. The HIPAA security officer will be able to monitor which employees are viewing which part of each patient's chart.
- Access to parts of the digital chart is restricted based upon username and password. For example, all billing personnel can be denied access to all patients' lab results while being given access to the patients' scanned insurance cards.
The Audit Trail allows administrators to view a complete access record for each section of a patient's chart.
The level of privacy our solution provides is not available with paper charts. When a billing employee pulls a paper chart to view insurance information, they have unfiltered access to the entirety of that patient's chart.
